A space dedicated to art jewelry in Vevey
Located in Vevey, between Lausanne and Montreux, Espace Borax is a contemporary jewelry gallery in Vevey. It is also a unique space dedicated to contemporary jewelry, ceramics, and contemporary art.
Borax was Founded in 2021 by the Einzweidrei collective. This non-profit space invites artists from Switzerland and around the world to present conceptual jewelry, also called art jewellery. These creations question the notion of ornament and adornment.
The artists explore connections between jewelry, art history, design, and contemporary techniques. Moreover, as a contemporary jewelry space in Vevey, Borax organizes around five exhibitions per year, solo or collective, offering a platform for Swiss and international creators.
A unique jewelry space in French-speaking Switzerland
In Switzerland, only a few venues are specifically dedicated to art jewelry : Annick Zufferey Gallery in Carouge, Caractère Gallery in Neuchâtel, Viceversa in Lausanne, or Friends of Carlotta in Zürich.
Furthermore, space Borax also presents contemporary ceramics and art installations, at the intersection of art and design. Thus, the space blends tradition and innovation.
The exhibition space and the two adjoining workshops are located within the former prison in Vevey. This 12th-century building was once the home of the bailiff and later used as a granary. A unique opportunity to discover the city’s historical heritage
Since its opening, Espace Borax has hosted numerous local artists as well as international artists, including:
Masamichi Yoshikawa, Minerva Cuevas, Bernhard Schobinger, Otto Künzli, Ruudt Peters, Karl Fritsch, Philip Sajet, Peter Machata, Benedict Haener, Alex Kinsley Vey, La Brutte, Michelle Currie, Ambroise Degenève, Alejandra Solar, Jonathan Monk, Patricia Glave, and many more.
